This
wonderful monument along the Truckee River in Reno, Nevada, was made by Chuck's
friend and teammate,
Charles Albright, with the help of 11 volunteers. It is
a restful space featuring four rugged granite benches with three
commemorative
plaques embedded in concrete. Accompanied by the calming sound of rushing water,
visitors can
contemplate memories of Chuck, Nathan, and other lost friends
who loved running rivers. Photos

Charlie
Albright has been working on this Monument for Nathan Krissoff (who was killed
in action in Iraq), Chuck and river runners lost. He has put an incredible amount
of work into it. I haven't seen it in person yet, but it looks amazing. It is
on the shore of the Truckee River. I wanted to share this with you, and I can't
wait to see it. Carol.

Hopefully,
I will get to Reno this week to see the plaques that Charles Albright instigated.
Austin Krissoff was actually at Chuck's service in Arlington
[October 8]. Nathan Krissoff was Austin's older brother, and was killed in action
in Iraq. Chuck was in Iraq at the time, but I had gone to Nathan's service in
Reno. Nathan's dad, a doctor in Truckee, actually joined the Army after Nathan
was killed. He went through basic training at something like 63 years old! He
served in Iraq as a tribute to his son's sacrifice. It was wonderful that Austin
came to honor Chuck. |
